What Are the Best Day Trips from Colorado Springs?

When you’re looking for things to do around Colorado Springs, CO, half day jeep tours provide a great way to spend your time. These types of tours are ideal when you don’t have time for a full day of fun and excitement. With a half day tour, you have the option of getting started early and finishing up by lunchtime or starting your tour in the afternoon. A half day tour also allows you to do other activities the rest of the day, so you won’t feel like you’re missing out on any adventures. At Colorado Jeep Tours, we offer two half day tours to the Red Canyon and the Royal Gorge.

Red Canyon Half Day Tours

From dinosaur tracks to Indian petroglyphs and stunning views, the Red Canyon offers a wide range of sights to enjoy. Colorado Jeep Tours provides half day tours of the area, which includes visits to the Garden Park Fossil Area in Canon City and Overlook Arch. Our jeep tours take you along a 4×4 trail that offers scenic views of the desert valley and its cedar and juniper groves. Along the way, you might catch glimpses of local wildlife, such as turkeys and mule deer. You might even have a chance to see a bear wandering around the area.

The Red Canyon half day tour runs for 3 hours and is available 365 days a year. Whether you want to set out in the morning or early afternoon, we have a half day tour that fits your schedule. During certain times in spring and summer, tours starting at 5 PM are also offered.

When you’re on our Red Canyon half day tour, you’ll be heading to elevations between 5,300 and 6,700 feet, which offer impressive views of the canyon area. Our tours include a short hike to Overlook Arch and views of the Red Canyon rock formations. You can also learn about dinosaur excavations that took place at Garden Park, as well as the Bone Wars of the 1870s.

Royal Gorge Half Day Tours

Take in picturesque views, explore historical sites and more with half day jeep tours through the Royal Gorge area. We offer tours running for 3.5 hours that allow you to explore the Royal Gorge area and learn more about its history. Our Royal Gorge off-road tours include a drive over the highest suspension bridge in the U.S., along with opportunities to view dinosaur tracks, visit an Old West Cemetery and get amazing views of Fremont Peak and the Royal Gorge Burn Scar.

Our half day tours in the Royal Gorge area are approximately three and a half hours long.  Departure times are 8:30 AM and 1 PM.  Half day tours  starting at 5 PM are also available for several weeks in spring and summer. The Royal Gorge Half Day tours are offered all year round.

From the highest elevation, you can expect to see the Eastern Plains, Pike’s Peak and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. We also offer upgrades on this tour, including zip lining over the Royal Gorge and wine tasting at Holy Cross Abbey.
