guests enjoying the outdoor view on Royal Gorge train

Jeep to Red Canyon or Royal Gorge. Ride the Royal Gorge Route Railroad.
In summer, transfers and lunch are included!

Your full day Jeep & Train adventure begins at our Cañon City office. After a short ride to the Royal Gorge train depot, you’ll skip the ticket line, as we escort you to the train to begin your 24-mile train excursion through the 1,100-foot-deep Royal Gorge, alongside the raging Arkansas River. Throughout the ride, you’ll have the opportunity to see Colorado wildlife, including bald eagles, Heron, Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep, mule deer, and flora native to the gorge. This unique Jeep & Train adventure is a chance to combine Fremont County’s only guided Jeep experience with a slice of Rocky Mountain railroad history.

Dome Seating

Customize the Royal Gorge train ride to suit your budget! Our Jeep & Train package includes comfortable coach seats with large windows to take in the spectacular views. Or, to get the most out of this once-in-a-lifetime experience, we recommend an upgrade to the dome car for an additional $25 per person, which features an incredible glass window that curves up to the roof, offering unobstructed views of the canyons and river.

Transportation & Lunch:

In summer (Memorial Day to Labor Day), we’ll be waiting at the depot when your trip ends to bring you back to our office, where you’ll enjoy a picnic style hamburger and hot dog lunch at Eddy Out Cafe. During off-season, you will provide your own transportation to/from the depot, and lunch is not included in the package, but can be purchased separately on the train.

Select Your Jeep Tour – Red Canyon or the Royal Gorge

After lunch, your off-road adventure begins! Choose one of two jeep tours: The Red Canyon Tour (approximately 3 hours) takes you through bright red towering spires and monoliths sculpted by the erosion of a layer of sedimentary rock made famous by Red Rocks, Garden of the Gods, and Morrison. Or, select the very popular Royal Gorge Tour (approximately 3.5 hours) that crosses the historic Royal Gorge Bridge and explores the beautiful overlooks and steep drop offs into the roaring Arkansas River. Although both of these jeep tours are fantastic, we recommend selecting the Royal Gorge Tour with this Jeep & Train package, as it gives you an opportunity to experience the gorge from the railroad tracks along side the Arkansas river at the bottom of the gorge AND drive over the Royal Gorge Bridge!

**Schedule Note: From 3/1 to 5/25/18, and 9/4 to 10/31/18, you will Jeep in the AM, and take the Train in the PM, due to the train’s off-season departure times. There is no morning train during these dates, so our Jeep & Train schedule is reversed from the description above. In either case, you will still check in at Colorado Jeep Tours for the Jeep & Train package.**

Upgrades Available:

Train Dome Car: $25/person over coach price.
Zip Line over the Royal Gorge: $45/person, following morning tour. Minimum age 10.
Wine tasting at Holy Cross Abbey: $30/Adult ($15/Child with juice), after the tour.
